Creating Open-ended Problems to Improve Students’ Abductive Reasoning in Mathematics Classroom

  • truong phuong

Abstract

Abductive reasoning is an important part of mathematical reasoning, helping students to explain puzzling observations and to discover new knowledge. The development of students’ abductive reasoning should be a concern for mathematics educators. Our previous studies already showed that students use abductive reasoning when facing with open-ended problems. By continuing developing our past results, this paper aim to propose some ways to create open-ended problems to improve students’ abductive reasoning.
