Abstract

In Russian literature, Leo Tolstoy was considered a master of unmatched and marvelous novels. He made worthy contributions to bringing Russian literature in the 19th century to the same level of the contemporary European literature. War and Peace was a great novel and an epic. The
personalities of each character were profoundly depicted. In many respects, the writer’s characters wer lively because of his special depiction of psychology in man and characters. In order to learn about the inmost feelings monologues written by Leo Tolstoy, we will analyze the issue on his use of rhetorical measures such as comparisons, contrasts and opposite meanings in the monologues of War and Peace.
