SOME DISPUTING STRATEGIES IN VIETNAMESE FAMILIES

Abstract

Disputes in general and family disputes in particular are commonly seen as dynamic interactional processes progressing by way of oppositions between two or more interlocutors, sequentially accomplished by the interlocutors via successive exchanges of oppositional moves. During disputes, speakers do their best to apply suitable strategies to prove they are right and the listeners are wrong. Basing on data of 255 episodes extracted from 8 Vietnamese movie series, this article is going to point out those strategies and their verbal realization
