Abstract
Addressing by members of judging panels in English and Vietnamese reality television programs reflects dynamic interpersonal strategies. This study focuses on investigating address forms, imprecise correspondence in addressing, changes in addressing and absence of address forms by Vietnamese and American members of judging panels. Vietnamese and American speakers’ ways of addressing in the same communication contexts show similar and different interactional strategies that are marked with sociocultural characteristics and signal some cross-cultural influences.
