Abstract

The  linking  conditional  sentence  is  one  of  the  challenging  grammatical  categories  to Japanese  learners  since  they  do  not  only  share  similarities  in  meaning  but  also  possess  their  own characteristics.  In  addition, the  inconsistence  in  the elementary and  intermediate Japanese  textbooks  in terms of formation and usage has made it confusing and difficult to learners. Within the limit of a brief research, the writer analyzes and compares the similarities and contrast the differences in the basic usuage of the  three   types of conditionals and gives some assumptions about the errors when using the Japanese conditionals terms that VietNamese students often suffer by the Vietnamese intervention.  This article aims to  inspire  new  ideas concerning  the study  of conditional sentence  and  to enhance  the effectiveness  of  teaching, learning and understanding Japanese conditional sentence.
