THE EMBODIMENT BASIS OF THE CONCEPTS OF EMOTIONS IN THE VIETNAMESE STRUCTURE "X (PREDICATES)+ BODY ORGANS" UNDER THE PERSPECTIVE OF COGNITIVE LINGUISTICS

Abstract

The aim of this paper is firstly to study the conceptualization of emotions involving the structure “X (predicates) + Body Organs. In addition, common experiential and the embodiment basis, as well as the Vietnamese cultural models anf cultural characteristics will also be discussed. For the study data, we are going to survey 115 bodypart-bearing Vietnamese lexical units connoting emotions (including 19 body organs). This paper will help enlighten the conceptualiaztion process of the concepts of emotions and the way Vietnamese people construct the concepts of emotions.
