COMMERCIAL PORT NUOC MAN: ONCE THE CRIB OF LATINIZED VIETNAMESE AND SCRIPT CREATION

Abstract

Urban commercial port Nuoc Man in Binh Dinh was born in the early of seventeenth century. Three priests: 2 Italian, Gristophoro Borri and Fransesco Buzomi, and one Portuguese is Fransesco de Pina, these respectively came to Quang Nam, Da Nang from 1615 to 1617 on missions and got the help of the Hoai Nhon’authority, they were welcome to Quy Nhon to help pick up the church, provide full life needs, so they had condition to combine with the local Confucians to Latinize Vietnamese into Business writing sermons and teach Vietnamese for Vietnamese overseas. One time, Nuoc Man is the crib of Latinized Vietnamese and script creation.
