Age and second language acquisition

Abstract

     Age appears to be the most frequently considered variable to predict the success of learners' second language acquisition. While there is a popular belief that children are much better at leaming second languages than adults, it is also maintained that older learners with fiill cognitive maturation and metalinguistic abilities are assumed to ouQierform children. The pqier is gomg to examine the effects of age on second language acquisition and provide explanation for them.
