Teaching contextualized sounds of connected speech of English for Ede learners

Abstract

    This article gives an overview of teaching contextual ized sounds in connected speech of English for Ede learners. The article mainly refers to segmentals rather than suprasegmentals, and it also contrasts English aspects of connected speech with those of Ede. Based on the teaching material of English on English pronunciation with a recorded disc of native speakers provided by Mortimer (1985), the study recommends some techniques for Ede learners to surpas the thresolds in English pronunciation for communication purposes.
