Valency features of quantity numeral in Vietnamese

Abstract

    The article researches into the valency based on the broad opinion about valency. Therefore, valency of quantity numeral in Vietnamese can be understood as the ability to open around it vacancies that need to or can be fulfilled by grammatical components in order to add particular meanings. All of that combining ability creates valency of this group of numerals. By researching on tiie Vietnamese materials, we have determined that valency of quantity numeral consists of three fundamental tagmas which belong to the two levels: tagma of counted object, unit tagma used in counting (phrase level), tagma of quantitative form (sentence level).
