Semantic structures of clauses with-verbs of emotion in English and Vietnamese

Abstract

    Processes of emotion, according to functional linguists, are one of the mental or experiential processes. They are defined as the procceses denoting such mental reactions to phenomena as like, dislike, hate, anger, surpirse, etc. The expressions that are likely to be used to describe those subtypes of emotions are typically verbs, nouns, adjectives, even idioms and proverbs. This article ains to classify verbs of emotion into different subtypa, and then propose typical semantic structures of clauses with each subtype of those verbs in both English and Vietnamsese.
