Abstract

As a closed-system part of speech, English and Vietaamese interjections focus 'more on their fimctions than on their lexical meanings. However, unlike the other closed! system parts of speech, English and Vietnamese intereetions have a much wider range of realizations, and often serve as a means of expressing interpersonal relationships. For this reason, inteijections have been well researched, especially from the morphological, semantic and pragmatic perspectives. In order to shed mote light on the characteristic features of mteijection in general and those of English and Vietnamese inteijections in particular, the paper is aimed at investigating the cultural features of the interjections of a language on the basis of English and Vietnamese common interjections.
