Abstract

Single jersey fabric commonly used for garment because of high production and simple technological conditions.  The fabric is light and soft but it’s dimension is always fairly stability, especially when the fabrics have knitted from yarn with cotton content.  The elastic characteristic will be better when the fabric knitted with spandex yarn, suitable for legging pants. In this paper, we have investigated an influence of spandex content on technological properties and physico-mechanical of single jersey fabric. Four single jersey fabrics have been knitted by CVC (60/40 Polyester/Cotton) in the same technological conditions, with different ratio of loop having spandex yarn, that is 100, 50, 33 and 25%. The result showed that when the spandex content increased, the horizontal and vertical loop density, the fabric’s thickness, their mass g/m2 and their horizontal expansion increased while the fabric’s air permeability degreased.
