Abstract

The effects of vietnamese natural essential oils on the antibacterial abilities of
non-woven fabrics have been studied through the use of 13 natural oils of
Vietnamese origin. These oils are applied to non-woven fabrics to investigate
their antibacterial abilities. After the oil impregnation, fabric samples were
assessed for antibacterial qualities using the qualitative method of AATCC
147, using escherichia coli (E.Coli) - AATCC 25922 and staphylococcus
aureus (St.Aureus) - AATCC 6538 provided by the Testing Center of Textile
Research Institute - 478 Minh Khai - Hanoi. The effects of essential oils to
the antimicrobial activity of the fabric after oil-impregnation will be
elucidated through the relationship between the used essential oil and the
bacterial inhibition zone (E.coli and St.aureus).
