STUDY ON IMPLEMENT OF BIOGAS ON SMALL GASOLINE GENERATOR SET IN HOME APPLICATION

Abstract

This paper presents experimental study on using gases fuel from biomass
on small generator set. The study was conducted on gasoline carburetor
engine equippted in generator which has rated power up to 10kVA. The
structure and main symtems of the original engine were not modified,
however a gases supply system is equipped to supply biogas fuel along with a
filter system to remove H2S and water moisture from biogas fuel. As using
biogas fuel, the generator could achieve maximumoutput power up to 4.4kW,
equivalent to 55% of rated power of the original generator set. The generator
set could flexibly operate with either gasoline or biogas after the conversion.
Using biogas fuel on generator set has expand widely the usage of renewable
energy sources and environmental protection and also reduces electricity
consumption on small and medium farms.
