DIFFICULTIES IN IMPLEMENTING STATISTICS PROCESS CONTROL METHODS: EXPERIENCE FROM FOREIGN FIRMS

Abstract

SPC method is used in enterprises to monitor, manage, analyze and improve
the production process by eliminating changes. The purpose of this study is to
point out the difficulties in the process of implementing this method in
enterprises. Result showed that the main difficulties are: (i) Lack of commitment
and participation of managers; (ii) No SPC introduction / training program; (iii)
Failure to explain control charts; (iv) Employees do not fully understand the
production process; (v) Unreasonable measurement system; (vi) Lack of
information among management levels. (vii) Lack of understanding of customer
requirements; (viii) Do not understand the benefits of SPC; (ix) Obstacles to
change / share experiences; (x) Lack of experts and instructors on SPC; (xi) No
empowerment of employees. The results provides more information, as well as
lesson in implementing SPC method in enterprises.
