40 years ASEAN: Achievements in political security

Abstract

Among different fields of cooperation, such as economy, political security, culture and educations, the cooperation in political security has obtained brightest and greatest achievements. These achievements have been recognized by international community and not only benefited the people in the region, but also the nations outside. These achievements are including the building of a stable framework cooperation among ASEAN members in order to settle and restrain conflicts, strengthening the prestige of the ASEAN, involving the large powers in dialogues for cooperation in the region. The ASEAN has therefore brought into play its self-strengthening spirit, consolidated its independence and sovereignty, all of that are manifested in keeping balance among powers, in taking advantage contradictories among them to defense their interests... These achievements have based on the grounds that I try to explain in this article.
