This study analyzes the influence of three factors: mother tongue, learning environment and learning motivation on the acquisition of Chinese verbs of students at Thai Nguyen University, Lao Cai Campus. With a mixed research design, data were collected from 250 students through multiple-choice surveys and semi-structured interviews, divided into two levels: elementary and intermediate. The results show that, at the elementary level, mother tongue is the most dominant factor; while at the intermediate level, learning environment and learning motivation play a decisive role. In addition, the study also points out the complex interaction between the three factors, thereby proposing personalized directions in teaching Chinese verbs of separation to students, especially for ethnic minority students in the context of multicultural language education in Vietnam.
