Abstract

Autism is one of the most common developmental disorders today, causing significant difficulties in communication, social interaction and behavior in children. In the context of Vietnam’s growing emphasis on mental health, autism has become a prominent concern due to the increasing number of diagnosed cases. This not only places a burden on families but also has a substantial impact on the education and healthcare systems.

Research on autism in Vietnam still faces many challenges due to the lack of official databases, limited in-depth studies and the diversity in symptom presentation among autistic children. Additionally, interventions and support services remain limited in terms of expertise and infrastructure.

This article focuses on clarifying the following issues:

(1) The current state of autism in children in Vietnam, including prevalence rates, clinical characteristics and risk factors;

(2) An assessment of existing intervention models;

(3) Proposing solutions to improve the effectiveness of diagnosis, intervention and support for children with autism and their families. The article highlights the importance of raising community awareness, providing professional training and developing early intervention services to minimize the impact of autism on the holistic development of children.
