Assessment of ARV treatment adherence and related factors among HIV/AIDS patients at Ha Dong general Hospital in 2025

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate adherence to ARV treatment and identify some factors related to ARV treatment adherence among HIV/AIDS patients at Ha Dong General Hospital in 2025. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 210 HIV/AIDS patients undergoing ARV treatment at the B20 outpatient clinic - Ha Dong General Hospital from April to August 2025. Patients were interviewed directly in the clinic using a six-part questionnaire regarding their adherence to ARV treatment. Results: The overall ARV treatment adherence rate was 86.2%. Two factors were found to be associated with adherence: patients who used drugs (OR = 6.23; 95%CI:2.19-17.74; p = 0.001) and family/ social support (OR = 3.78; 95%CI: 1.08-13.22; p = 0.037). Conclusion: It is necessary to focus research, counseling, and health education on high-risk groups, as well as to improve supportive policies to enhance treatment adherence effectiveness.
