Abstract

Purpose: This study explores thematic clusters and prominent research trends in knowledge sharing (KS) within higher education (HE). Based on these findings, a systematic literature review is conducted to provide an overview and to propose potential future research directions for this emerging field.
Design/methodology/approach: The research employed two approaches: bibliometric analysis and a systematic literature review.
Findings: Bibliometric techniques, including co-citation and keyword analyses, were applied to a dataset of 762 articles from the Web of Science (WOS). The identified thematic clusters include conceptual frameworks and measurement approaches for knowledge sharing (KS), factors affecting KS, and associated issues. For the systematic literature review, 59 articles from WOS and Scopus were analyzed for their theoretical foundations, research methods, measurement scales, and KS behavior's antecedents and outcomes. These analyses led to several proposed avenues for future research.
Originality/value: Provide an overview of knowledge sharing in higher education through bibliometric analysis and systematic review.
