Investigating the Factors Influencing the Staffs’ Working Motivation at Joint Stock Commercial Banks in Ho Chi Minh City

Abstract

Applying need-based theories of motivation as well as learning from previous empirical studies, this study investigates the factors that influence the working motivation of the staffs at commercial banks located in Ho Chi Minh city. Under both qualitative and quantitative methods, the results demonstrate the significant factors in descending order of the influencing power including salary, allowances, benefits, task design, interest in work, physical environment, promotion, and human environment. Based on the research results, the author proposes managerial implications to reinforce the working motivation of the employees of joint stock commercial banks in Ho Chi Minh City. The article expects to provide a valuable reference for those banks to formulate effective policies, and to enhance performance in human resources management.
