Abstract

The heavy metal pollution of water in the Nhue River, that receives wastewater from the To Lich and Kim Nguu River system, was investigated together with the effects of use of this water for the irrigation of the surrounding farmland. Twelve water samples and 12 soils samples were collected from 12 locations in the Nhue River at rainy season (8/2011) and dry season (3/2012) for heavy metal analyses. The results showed that heavy metal concentrations of Cu, Pb and Zn in the soil samples were much different between locations and seasons. Most of soils samples had Cu and Zn concentrations were over limitation of Vietnamese standard for agricultural soil (03:2008/BTNMT). The relation coefficient between heavy metal concentration of Cu, Pb and Zn of water sample and soil sample was very high, Pearson coefficient ranged from 0.79-0.91 for Cu. The results showed that using irrigation water from the Nhue River effected to cumulate heavy metal concentration in the agrilculrural soil.
