Water resources development for supply agriculture in 35 years (1975-2010)
Abstract
Dak Lak is one of five provinces in Central Highland. Dak Lak have total area of 13,125 Km2 , population in 2010 is 2 million, accounting for 24% of area and 36.3% of population in the Central Highlands. The population density is 152 people per km2 in the province. Dak Lak is an important strategic position, good soil potential and climate suitable for agricultural development, focus on agriculture commodity products. However, climate divide to in two clear seasons, especially in the dry season water shortages are severe. Therefore water resources (irrigation) development to serve economic - society development is very important to Dak Lak province. After 35 years of development, government and sector at all levels are focused, resource contribution and effort of the irrigation officials, Dak Lak province has systems of important irrigation infrastructure. However, For the irrigation development to keep pace with economic - society development, those who work in the area of irrigation hope outside the attention of government and sector at all levels, irrigation officials need to contribute on sustainable irrigation sector development in terms of global climate change today.
