The simulation of flow velocity and pressure on an ogee spillway using flow-3d

Abstract

   This paper aims to simulate the flow over ogee spillways by using Flow-3D software, which is applied for Dong Nai 2 hydropower station. The flow velocity and pressure were calculated and analyzed through four different turbulent models. The results indicated that the RNG model is better than K, Kepsilon and LES models, when they were both compared with observed data in case the discharge was 150.76 l/s. The Nash - Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE) and the percent difference of RNG model are 0.86 and 10.9%, respectively. The model was also validated through other discharge, Q = 184.13 l/s, and presented good agreement with experimental results.
