Abstract

uong Khuong district is one of the poorest districts in the border area of Lao Cai province. With favorable conditions of land and forests, local people have been developing agricultural and forestry activities to increase household income. Based on the field survey research and analysis of secondary documents on the research area, this article analyzed some of the main agricultural and forestry activities of the people (planting perennial and annual crops, planting production forests, exploiting natural products) and some environmental problems arise during the production process such as: forest recovery capacity reduces, land is at risk of degradation, soil and water pollution tend to increase. To develop environmentally sustainable agriculture and forestry, some recommended solutions are: Propagating to people to use pesticides according to regulations; protecting the area of protective forest land to avoid affecting the development of forest regeneration; having a plan for collecting and treating plastic waste in the process of agricultural and forestry production.
