Abstract

Socio-ecological zoning is the analysis of natural and environmental conditions in relation to socio-economic activities. Doan Ket commune (Da Bac district, Hoa Binh province) located in Phu Canh Nature Reserve, plays an important role in biodiversity conservation, water protection, and climate change mitigation. With the socio-ecological approach, the researchers have divided the Doan Ket commune into three socio-ecological sub-regions: SR1: The Western biodiversity protection and enhancement sub-region (high mountainous area); SR2: Sub-region of economic development in the central region (middle mountainous region); SR3: Forest economic development sub-region in the East (low mountain area). The research results add to the data for scientific theory on zoning and contribute to the scientific basis of orienting the sustainable use of natural resources, and protect water sources, thereby contributing to the conservation of biodiversity, and improving people's quality of life.
