Status of cable stayed bridges in Viet Nam and the need for installing an observation system

Abstract

      Start construction from 1997 - 1998, in Vietnam so far has dozens of long span cable - stayed bridge was put into operation and dozens of other have been preparing to build. On the local road network also has dozens of medium span cable - stayed bridge is being exploited since more than 10 years. Total assets of those bridge up to hundreds of thousands of billions VND. There were some minor damage and some technical problems occur . However the system of standards and specifications for maintenance and operation has not been fully. Only a handful of cable-stayed bridge is installed monitoring systems to track , detect and warn about the technical risks in the operation process . The paper presents the current status of  the cable-stayed bridge in Vietnam and the need to establish such monitoring systems and some related proposals.
