A national financial education program in the context of financial digital- A review and recommendations for Vietnam
Abstract
Financial education, a factor bridging the supply and demand side of financial inclusion, plays a key role in enhancing the level of national financial literacy, promoting financial inclusion, and ensuring the stability of financial market. In Asia, while most countries have developed and implemented a financial education program at national level, the Vietnamese Government has not had an official national program to raise financial knowledge and financial literacy yet. In this study, the authors assess financial literacy and financial education in Vietnam, identifying the challenges to Financial Inclusion in case of no financial education program. Based on the lessons of other countries in building a national education program, the authors make some recommendations for planning Vietnamese financial education program towards the objective of promoting Financial Inclusion.
