REVIEW THE HERPETOFAUNA OF CAN GIO MANGROVE BIOSPHERE RESERVE

Abstract

The herpetofauna of Can Gio Mangrove Biopshere Reserve was reviewed based on the results of Hoang Duc Dat et al.(1997). 9 species, including two amphibians and 7 reptiles, were added to the previous checklist; three reptiles were also removed from old checklist. The herpetofauna of this area was confirmed with 46 species, including 11 amphibians and 35 reptiles. 12 of them (26,1%) are precious species which are listed in the Red Data Book of Vietnam (2007) (12 species), and the Govermenttal Decree No. 32/2006/NĐ-CP (2006) (6 species). Scientific name and taxonomy of these species are updated.
