Abstract
Foreign-invested enterprises play an essential role, pioneering tasks and serving as key connectors to the global value chain. The recent increase in foreigninvested enterprises, particularly in the fields of information technology, telecommunications, retail, and financial intermediaries, may present opportunities for Vietnam to engage in higher value-added segments of the global value chain. Therefore, there is a need for redirection to attract foreign direct investment in these sectors. Based on an assessment of the status of foreign-invested enterprises participation in the global value chain in Vietnam, the article proposes recommendations to enhance the role of this capital flow in elevating Vietnam’s position within the global
value chain.
