Abstract

In the context of higher education shifting from one-way knowledge transmission to student-centered learning, university space is no longer merely a setting for formal classes but becomes an environment that activates interaction, experience, and lifelong learning. At Dai Nam University, classrooms, lecture halls, and library facilities have gradually met teaching and learning demands; however, courtyards, corridors, transitional areas, and outdoor open spaces still contain considerable potential that has not been fully utilized. This article interprets the reconfiguration of open spaces on Dai Nam University’s campus through a sequential logic: spatial reconfiguration - interaction enhancement - informal learning promotion. Based on site observation, user needs analysis, and design orientations from the university-level research project, the article proposes a network of open spaces including a central connection hub, outdoor learning areas, sports and recreation zones, flexible event squares, creative spaces, green-blue infrastructure, and multifunctional urban furniture. This approach aims to develop the campus as an open, flexible, friendly, and identity-rich learning ecosystem.
