SOME REFLECTIONS ON VIETNAMESE NATIONAL VALUES: HO CHI MINH AND THE VALUES OF INDEPENDECE, FREEDOM AND HAPPINESS

In this paper the author shares his reflections on Ho Chi Minh’s thought on the values of independece, freedom and happiness. The author argues that these values are the core values of the modern Vietnam and have served as the common inspiration and basis to connect and unite all the Vietnamese together in the fight to gain and maintain independence for the nation, bring freedom to all Vietnamese and open opportunities for all people to pursuit happy life. During the modern history of Vietnam, those fundamental values have always acted as the main driving force in the cause of struggle for national liberation and national unification as well as in the cause of building a Vietnam. And today within the cause of Renovation and building a suitable socialist model for the national condition of Vietnam the fundamental values of independence, freedom and happiness continue to serve as the guiding values for our national development.

VIETNAM’S NATIONAL VALUE SYSTEM IN THE CURRENT CONTEXT

In this paper, the authors reflect on the Vietnam’s national value system in the present context. While analyzing the specific features and current situations of the national values of Vietnam the authors pay attention to some key factors that could bring both advantages and challenges to the cause of building the national value system: such as market economy, industrialization and modernization, globalization and international integration. The authors conclude that models and strategies, methods of industrialization, and modernization of the country from now until 2030, with a vision to 2045, must be linked with the strategy of building and developing people with content about systems national, cultural, family, and human values. It would be a mistake to emphasize only the technical and technological aspects and underestimate the human aspects, human recourse and Vietnamese value system. Thematic resolution, strategy on building and human development with contents about Vietnamese value system is significantly urgent, important, and meaningful, and needs to be issued for orienting both the “industrialization and modernization” of people and human resources, especially today's high-quality labor force.

BUILDING CONSENSUS IN THE CONTEXT OF SOCIALISM-ORIENTED MARKET ECONOMY DEVELOPMENT IN CONTEMPORARY VIETNAM

Based on theoretical issues related to a social consensus and the practical aspects of a socialist-oriented market economy in our country, this article provides an overview of the social consensus in the context of the market economy in Vietnam, highlighting some fundamental characteristics. The article explores the experiences of building the social consensus within the framework of Vietnam's socialist-oriented market economy, including the role of building the Party, the political system, and political-social organizations; the significance of harmonizing the interests of social subjects,... in the construction and maintenance of the social consensus.

This article explores the national values and value orientations; it delineates the commonalities and specificities inherent in these systems. The paper also allocates substantial consideration to defining the roles and significances of national values and value orientations in the activities of ethnic communities and the development of society as a whole, through historical-social memory.

SOME TRADITIONAL NATIONAL VALUES OF VIETNAM IN THE NEW CONTEXT

In the paper, the author considers conceptions of value, national values, and traditional national values, and from that point brings out and analyzes some traditional national values of Vietnam: patriotism, spirit of independence, unity and social order, harmony with nature, tolerance and adaptability, flexibility in resolving problems etc. In “the new context”, i.e. in the contemporary time, those values have changed in different ways, and almost all of them continue to exist as values in the modern society, not disappear, since they all contribute to build the present Vietnamese people and society.

NATIONAL CHARACTER IN THE VIEW OF PSYCHOANALYSIS

In the current context of globalization, when humanity is gradually moving towards a flat world, besides that common trend, each nation - state still retains its own national characteristics. Those are the typical and unique features that each community contributes to the cultural heritage of humanity. In that sense, the character of each nation - expressing its identities, personalities, and identities - has always had a strange attraction for researchers. However, national character is a rather vague concept, difficult to grasp, both relative and universal, so it is also an open concept, open to different approaches of psychology, sociology, ethnology, anthropology, value studies, cultural studies.... National character is seen as an iceberg, in which the part that emerges that we consciously perceive only accounts for a small part, while most of the other parts remain unconscious. Therefore, the approach to studying the national character from a psychoanalytic perspective can be considered quite unique and advantageous and cannot be taken lightly.

This article can be considered as an attempt to study the national character expressing the unique identity of a nation-state under the new perspective of psychoanalysis, from which it is possible to make comments on the national character of some nation, including Viet Nam
