RESEARCH OF THE POROSITY AND AIR PERMEABILITY USING LOOP MODEL OF PLATE SINGLE KNITTED FABRIC WITH SPENDEX YARN FOR SPORTWEAR APPLICATION

Abstract

Plate single fabrics with the spandex yarn were used commonly for spotwear
because of their elasticity, simple and low-cost production. Meanwhile, air
permeability is important for physiological comfort of knitted garment. This paper
investigated the air permeability of four plate single fabrics CVC (60% cotton 40%
PES) with the spandex yarn. The plate spandex stitches ratio was 100%, 50%, 33%
và 25%. The fabric volumetric porosity was theorical calculated based on stitch
geometrical model while the fabric air permeability was experimetally measured.
The results showed that the relationship between the plate stitches ratio and the
fabric air permeability was inversely proportional with Hight R-square value of
0.99 while the relationship between fabric volumetric porosity and air
permeability was the logarithmic with R-square value of 0.88.
