ELECTRICAL INSULATION SOLUTIONS FOR ELECTRICAL MACHINES OPERATING AT HIGH TEMPERATURE

Abstract

During engine operation, heat is always generated, it is transferred to
other parts of the engine, causing them to degrade over time. The important
component affected by heat is the motor's insulation system, so determining
the insulation system's ability to withstand temperature will predict the
motor's working life. Solutions used for the insulation systems of electric
motors operating at high temperatures are presented. The physical properties
of the materials were analyzed. Tests were conducted on two types of
specimens, through partial discharge inception voltage and lifetime
measurements. The achieved results open up many development directions,
in the near future, for these insulation systems.
