MODIFICATION OF TiO2 NANOTUBE ARRAYS BY CdS AND THEIR PHOTOCATALYTIC ACTIVITY

Abstract

In this paper, A visible-light active photocatalyst, CdS/TiO2 nanotube array
(NTA) photoelectrode, was prepared bydeposition of visible-light absorbable
2.4eV band-gap CdS quantum dots (QDs) using successive ion layer adsorption
and reaction (SILAR) methods onto TiO2 NTAs. The synthesized nanomaterials are
characterized by X-ray energy dispersion (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD)
andscanning electron microscope (SEM) methods. The photochemical properties
of the catalyst were characterized by cyclic voltammetry method (CV). The
results show that CdS (QDs) deposited TiO2 NTAs exhibits higher photocatalytic
activity than that of TiO2 NTAs.
