RESEARCH THE EFFECTS OF A NUMBER OF FACTORS ON DECISIONS TO CHOOSE FABRIC SUPPLIERS OF GARMENT FIRMS IN VIETNAM
Abstract
The aims of supplier selection are purchasing fabrics, reducing risk, maximizing value, and developing
supplier relationships. Depending on each production order, firms have different levels of choosing
suppliers, but this has not been fully studied. The research on the effects of a number of factors on decisions
to choose fabric suppliers of garment firms in Vietnam is presented in this article. Statistical survey method
with 144 votes was performed. The statistical data were processed using R software. The relationship
between the supplier selection decision and the influencing factors is established, it is based on a
multivariate linear regression model considering the interaction effects between the factors. The results,
research have shown that decisions to choose fabric suppliers are influenced by the following factors:
production capacity, fabric price, satisfactory product ratio, acceptance to the order details change,
reputable, branded, capable of securing samples, and customer information, have a social responsibility and
ensure fabric origin. The results of this study are the basis for fabric suppliers to have a marketing and
customer retention strategy.
