THE IMPACT OF THE CULTURAL ENVIRONMENT ON THE LEARNING ATTITUDES OF STUDENTS AT THE FACULTY OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES, DONG NAI TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY

Abstract

In the context of higher education reform, the campus cultural environment is considered a crucial factor influencing students' learning attitudes and behaviors, especially in foreign language programs that demand high discipline, proactivity, and interactivity. This study was conducted to clarify and test the relationship between the campus cultural environment and the academic conduct of students at Dong Nai Technology University, focusing primarily on students from the Faculty of Foreign Languages and comparing them with students from other faculties. A mixed-methods approach was utilized. A survey was conducted with 320 students using a 5-point Likert scale, complemented by interviews with 5 lecturers for qualitative insights. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, mean comparison tests, reliability analysis, and factor analysis to evaluate the scale structure and determine the impact level of cultural environmental factors on academic conduct. The results indicate that the campus cultural environment has a statistically significant positive influence on various aspects of academic conduct, most notably in disciplinary awareness, classroom participation, and academic interaction. However, self-directed learning and engagement in extracurricular academic activities remain limited. This study provides a practical foundation for proposing solutions to enhance students' academic conduct through strengthening and developing the campus cultural environment at Dong Nai Technology University.
