STAFF MARGIN IN STATE-OWNED AGENCIES: A CASE STUDY OF CAN THO UNIVERSITY
Abstract
This research investigates the administrative staff margin at Can Tho University by applying the FullTime Equivalent (FTE) method. A survey was conducted involving seven administrative personnel and 134 faculty members currently employed by the institution. Utilizing descriptive statistics as the primary research methodology, the study facilitates a systematic analysis and integration of the collected data. The results reveal that calculating administrative staff margin using the FTE method, grounded in workload and actual productivity, yields greater effectiveness and accuracy than the traditional FTE method based on student and faculty counts. This study highlights the critical importance of precise staffing calculations, especially within the public sector, specifically at Can Tho University. Furthermore, it offers several recommendations aimed at improving staffing efficiency moving forward.
