EVALUATION OF TOURISM WEBSITES ADOPTING DESTINATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (DMS) FROM THE TOURIST PERSPECTIVE: A CASE STUDY OF DA NANG CITY

Abstract

An official platform set up by destination management organizations (DMO) to promote and build bridges between stakeholders is the destination management systems (DMS). With the rapid development of Internet technology, the trend of searching for tourism information on the DMS is becoming more and more popular. However, most research on DMS in Asia has not been focused, especially in Vietnam. This study is based on the observation method and the counting method combined with a survey of tourists according to an evaluation framework consisting of 81 attributes belonging to 4 aspects: technique, communication, interaction, and persuasion to measure the importance and performance of these attributes on the danangfantasticity.com. The research findings show that only 42 out of 81 attributes appear on this website; and furthermore, there are attributes that are displayed but have not met the requirements of tourists. Based on these results, the study has made some recommendations to improve the DMS of Da Nang in the future.
