Japan, an Asian country with limited land area and a dense population, possesses both modern technology and a long-established agricultural tradition. Beyond ensuring food supply and employment, agriculture in Japan also sustains rural communities and preserves the nation's traditional and cultural values. The harmonious combination of traditional farming techniques and advanced technological applications results in products noted for their sophistication and precision, making Japan's agriculture one of the most efficient sectors globally. To achieve such success, the Japanese government has prioritized the cultivation and development of high-quality human resources in high-technology agriculture. Using a comprehensive analysis of existing data, documents, and government policies, this paper reviews Japan's approach to agricultural workforce development and draws key lessons for Vietnam in promoting its own high-tech agricultural human resource policies.
