The model of youth volunteers in the Dien Bien Phu campaign and their current influences on students majoring in Transportation Engineering in some universities
Abstract
“No job is impossible/If one’s will is enduring/Even digging down the mountain or filling up the ocean/Determination will make it happen” are the verses composed by President Ho Chi Minh to the youth volunteer force in 1950 on his way to the Border Campaign, during his visit to a youth volunteer unit that was building roads to serve the campaign. Historically, youth volunteers, have made significant contributions to the nation's successes, especially those involved in the Dien Bien Phu campaign. They are youngsters, regardless of gender, from different areas and of different professions, who participated in the tasks of breaking mountains, opening routes for vehicles, and carrying food and weapons to the army, which is of vital importance to the nation's victory. They serve as a shining example for the younger generation to follow, especially for transportation engineering students. Following the model of the teenage volunteer force, transportation engineering students overcame obstacles, grew to love their chosen profession, studied incessantly, gained knowledge, and worked hard on scientific research to contribute to the nation’s development.
