Abstract

One of the characteristics of the Asian-Oriental culture is family culture. Although there are some common features in family culture of all mankind, such as consanguinity and the cohesion of relationships from the family to the society, traditional Vietnamese family culture still has its own cultural features with unique identities, from the scope of village cultural space, spanning many centuries to the connection among/with customs, practices, beliefs to customary law and village convention in the process of the existing history of family lines in the interaction and mutual bindings under the influence of the ruling class’s ideology in the process of national cultural history. This article initially explores and identifies traditional Vietnamese family culture through a number of theoretical and practical issues, thereby suggesting ways to approach and acquire positive family cultural values contributing to the cause of protecting, promoting, and revitalizing the multi-ethnic national community culture, in the context of current social development.
