Abstract
The sovereignty and territorial integrity of each country are sacred and inviolable matters. Vietnam's seas and islands in general, and the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos in particular, are part of the territory that constitutes the country’s sacred sovereignty. Therefore, the task of implementing state management, exercising sovereignty and fighting to affirm and protect sovereignty over seas and islands is greatly significant and extremely substantial. This task requires, on the one hand, to regularly uphold the Party's views and ideologies, and to organize proactive and creative implementation in practice at all levels, all sectors and all walks of life. On the other hand, it is necessary to focus on promoting the combined strength to affirm and protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands in the new revolutionary period. This article presents the process in which the Socialist Republic of Vietnam performing the state management function and organizing the protection of national sovereignty over the sea and islands in general and the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos in particular from the day Vietnam was unified, moves towards socialism until now (from 1975 to 2020).
