English error correction techniques for students of Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment

Abstract

In teaching and learning English, making mistakes is one of the elements of learners’ knowledge perception. To perceive knowledge, learners have to learn hard and overcome errors to achieve their learning goals. English error correction techniques for students of Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment was conducted with quantitative methods to identify popular mistakes and qualitative method to discover useful techniques to correct mistakes. Studied results showed that during instructing and pointing out the nature of the practice language, teachers provide evidence, examples, and illustrations or suggestions for students to correct mistakes by themselves within the possible time limits. Correcting errors in pair or group work also creates a better and effective long-term learning competition dynamically because error correction is deeply embedded in the context of many members. Teachers should correct special errors or in certain difficulty to help students grasp the essence of English for practice in depth. The error coding helps students to proactively recognize, save time and apply language proficiency according to each level.
