11. Assessment of land suitability for land use types in Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province

Abstract

With an agricultural land area of 31.098,81 hectares, accounting for 78,29% of the town’s natural area, Dong Trieu has many advantages and potentials to develop agricultural production. According to the survey results, Dong Trieu town has 5 main categories of land use with 19 different land use types. The total cultivated land area of the whole year is 24.733,3 ha. By using ArcGIS technology to superimpose 6 units (soil type, topography, mechanical composition, soil thickness, irrigation mode, drainage mode) has been identified 45 land units. Based on the growth requirements of land use types and soil characteristics, all land use types of Dong Trieu town were classified at 4 levels: S1 (very suitable), S2 (suitable), S3 (slightly suitable) and N (not suitable).
