Abstract

Earthquakes are caused by abrupt movement along internal cracks. The method for determining displacements at fault zones is based on numerous years of observations at geodynamic sites. With the advancement of remote sensing technology, InSAR (Interferometry Synthetic Aperture Radar) technology provides a method for monitoring large-scale surface displacement using multi-temporal SAR image data. In this paper, the authors propose to integrate geodynamic information and results of surface displacement determined by the PSInSAR (Persistent Scatterer Interferometry) method to evaluate the impact of an earthquake in Kon Tum during the period 2021 - 2022. The results of geodynamic measurements indicate that a number of monitoring sites are moving in the opposite direction of the vertical, particularly in the Kon Tum region. During the earthquake, there were also surface displacements at PS (Persistent Scatterer) sites with a settlement velocity greater than -50 mm/year.
