Abstract
Evaluating land use efficiency plays an important role in urban management and planning, simultaneously contributing to optimizing the use of this valuable resource. Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province is a mountainous district in the North of Vietnam with diverse land resources suitable for agricultural development. However, the land is finite, so evaluating the efficiency of land use in general and the efficiency of agricultural land use in particular to promote regional strengths and maintain sustainability is necessary, especially in low-lying areas. The study uses the questionnaire survey method (RRA and PRA) to determine economic, social, and environmental indicators related to the local land use situation. From those parameters, continuously calculating the effectiveness of land use types. The research results show that the type of land use with 2 rice crops and 1 cash crop has higher economic - social - environmental efficiency than other types of land use. This type of land use type specializes in rice and vegetables. It creates diversity of crops, the highest land use coefficient during the year, and also avoids pests and diseases. The results of this research are the basis for orienting effective land use, linking land use with improvement and fostering, protecting land and the environment in the direction of sustainable development.
