Người Việt di cư ở New Zealand và những thách thức hội nhập từ sau chính sách mở cửa nhập cư năm 2022 của quốc gia này

Tóm tắt: Thế kỉ 21 chứng kiến những làn sóng di cư mới của người Việt đến nhiều vùng lãnh thổ khác nhau trên thế giới. New Zealand dường như là một điểm đến được ưa thích trong những thập niên gần đây. Nhiều câu hỏi được đặt ra: Tại sao người Việt lựa chọn New Zealand làm nơi nhập cư? Mạng lưới di cư và động lực nào đã thúc đẩy họ đến lập nghiệp ở quốc gia này? Văn hóa và bản sắc của họ được duy trì và thay đổi thế nào khi hội nhập vào xã hội địa phương? Dựa trên nghiên cứu điền dã tại thành phố Auckland, New Zealand, bài viết này cố gắng mang lại một mô tả dân tộc học về cộng đồng người Việt mới nhập cư để góp phần trả lời các câu hỏi nêu trên. Những câu chuyện đời, những trải nghiệm thực tế và quan sát dân tộc học trên thực địa sẽ giúp khám phá mạng lưới xã hội và động lực của người di cư khi lựa chọn New Zealand làm điểm đến lập nghiệp. Từ đây, bài viết cũng gợi lên những ngụ ý thực tiễn nhằm cải thiện cơ hội nghề nghiệp, khả năng hòa nhập vào đời sống văn hóa tại nơi định cư.
Abstract: The 21st century witnessed new waves of out-migration from Vietnam to different places in the world. New Zealand seems to be a popular destination in recent decades. Various questions can be raised for discussion as why do Vietnamese people choose New Zealand as a place to move in? What are their migration networks and what motivated them to settle in this country? How are their culture and identity maintained and changed when integrating into local society? Based on fieldwork in Auckland, New Zealand, this article attempts to provide an ethnographic description of the new Vietnamese immigrant community to contribute to answering the above questions. Life stories, daily experiences and on-the-ground ethnographic observations will help explore the social networks and motivations of migrants in New Zealand. Furthermore, the study also looks for practical implications to improve opportunities and the ability to integrate into the cultural life in the settlement area.
