KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE ABOUT PREVENTION OF HYPERTENSIVE COMPLICATIONS AMONG PATIENTS IN GENERAL HOSPITAL QUANG NINH PROVINCE 2018

Abstract

Objective: The study was conducted to describe the knowledge and practice of hypertensive complications of patients at the clinic of Quang Ninh General Hospital in 2018. Method: The study was conducted by a cross-sectional descriptive study using self-administered questionnaires with 322 hypertensive patients who were receiving treatment at outpatient clinics at the Quang Ninh General Hospital. Results: The rate of hypertensive patients in Quang Ninh general hospital has knowledge about the complications of hypertension is 61.2%. The rate of hypertensive patients in Quang Ninh general hospital with practice of complications of hypertension was 55.3%. The knowledge about adherence is good, but the knowledge of early signs of complications is very low: Complications in the brain (22%), heart (36.6%), kidney (7.7%), eye (4.1%), only 5.6% of patients control the target blood pressure. Conclusion: The percentage of patients who have knowledge, practice to reach the complications of hypertension is moderate. Most of the patients have good knowledge and practice of adherence, but knowledge about complications and lifestyle changes is not high.
